Sage Educational Services Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is standardized test preparation?
A: Sage provides preparation for tests that are nationally scaled and administered, which are intended
to evaluate student suitability for college or graduate programs. Undergraduate exams include the ACT
and the SAT; graduate exams include the Law School Admissions Test, Graduate Management
Admissions Test, and the Graduate Record Exam.
Q: Why should I use Sage instead of another test-prep provider?
A: Sage uses existing testing materials and facilities in order to reduce overhead. This allows us to
hire better teachers and charge lower prices. Sage instructors must score at the 99th percentile
(the top 1%). Sage instructors are paid more, and Sage customers are charged less.
Q: How much is the course?
A: Courses are designed to be affordable, but they vary based on region. Please see our services
link for more information on prices in your area.
Q: How long is the course?
A: There are generally 2 sessions of approximately 3 hours each, and 4 sessions of 1.5 hours each.
Courses are occasionally compressed for student convenience.
Q: How much of an improvement can I expect to see?
A: The average increase of Sage students is approximately 2.6 points on the ACT or 70 points
on the SAT. Score increases vary dramatically from student to student, depending on factors including
the student's effort and the variation that students can see from test to test. Students have increased by
as much as 9 points on the ACT and as much as 480 points on the SAT, but those are highly unusual.
